Eligibility:  If you are the child or grandchild of a member of the New Zealand Defence Force who served in what was then known as the Republic of Vietnam between 1964 and 1972 then you may be eligible for assistance.  The Board has determined that child or grandchild may be taken to include stepchildren.

What we Fund:  Our prime focus is on education and training.  We also fund sporting endeavor and certain cultural activities.  We do not fund medical or dental procedures, home improvements, car repairs or debt.  Applications falling under these five categories should properly be directed to the ‘Vietnam Veterans and their Families Trust’.  The Board will accept up to three applications per eligible person limited to one per calendar year.

The Process:  Over the past few Bursary rounds there have been a number of applicants who have failed to submit all required documents, particularly the Beneficiary Payment Form (BPF), and this has resulted in significant effort by the Board to resolve.  The BPF is a mandatory requirement from our Trustee (Perpetual Guardian (PG)).  The information provided allows PG to validate both your identity and bank details which are a prerequisite for the payment of funds.  Failure to provide the BPF and Bursary Submission Form (BSF) will result in your application not being considered by the Board until received.  Submissions already received without the BPF will not be progressed further until all documentation has been provided:

• ​Complete the BPF Document below.  All applicants should note that the Board requires that you submit PDF copies of the completed Beneficiary Payment Form (BPF) and all associated identity documents as outlined in the BPF Form, which must also be in PDF format.  Failure to do so will result in your application not being considered by the Board until done so and verified as complete.

Once the Board is in receipt of both the BPF and BSF your submission will form part of the next available funding round.  You will be notified of the Board's decision soon after.
